she wrote it herself, we just added the dates. she planned everything, got everything arranged with the church for her memorial we just had to tell the church the dates in the end. she got in touch with the restaurant to get the food she wanted for the catering. she told my grandfather she didn't want us to mess anything up lol
BELEW, ETHEL, born November 29, 1927, passed away February 28, 2008 at the Oaks on Parkwood, a senior living community, after a long battle with colon cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Susie Siniard of Athens, AL; four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim Belew; a daughter, Susan Evans of Gardendale; two granddaughters, Ashley and Allison Evans of Gardendale; two sisters, Virginia Thornton of Decatur and Jeanette Higginbotham of Athens, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 3rd, 11 AM at Riverchase United Methodist Church, 1953 Old Highway 31, Birmingham, AL, where she is a member. Visitation will be one hour before the service at 10 AM. Special thanks goes to Hope Hospice and Home Instead, especially Dora, for their loving care; to Reverend John Ray for his visits and encouragement; the Joy Sunday School Class for all the cards, food, and calls; to the staff at the Oaks on Parkwood, especially Susan Kennedy and Quena Mears for making living at the Oaks such a pleasant experience. Ethel participated in many of the programs at the Oaks as well as volunteering.
